Edward L. (Ted) Shipka, MBA, President, is a graduate of the University of Alberta (Edmonton), has been actively engaged in the transportation industry in Canada and the United States for over 40 years. From 1972 to 1985 Ted held various operational, administrative, managerial and executive posts with Pe Ben Industries Company Ltd. and its public parent Pe Ben Oilfield Services Ltd. (TSX). In 1985, Ted co-founded TransContinental Oilfield Services Ltd., an oilfield transport service provider, which he sold in 1987. After providing consulting services to Mannion Transportation Ltd., a bulk petroleum transport company [both companies were later acquired by the Pe Ben Group in 1991 and 1995 respectively], he rejoined Pe Ben Group of companies in 1988, where he worked until that group was acquired in a hostile take-over in 2006. From 2006 until 2012, Ted co-founded and worked at Triple Random Inc., a unionized, specialized heavy equipment and material transport company, as President & C.E.O. In 2012 he sold his majority interest. Since 2012, Ted has focused on managing various closely-held holding and operating companies including 1081903 Alberta Ltd., Wolverine Pipeline Equipment Ltd. and TGS Strategic Investments Inc. Ted is an Honorary Member of the national Pipe Line Contractors of Canada, in which he was past President (1988, 2009), Director (1992-2012) and Chair of the Safety Committee (1992-2010). Ted is also a past Director of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC) as well as the Alberta Transportation Training and Development
Glenda Palmer (Shipka), CMA, Financial Officer commenced her career in the legal profession working at Cruikshank Phillips as legal secretary in the corporate tax department (1987-92). During that period, Glenda also founded her own company, Palmer Consulting, which specialized in bookkeeping services. In 2004, Glenda became a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). In 1995 she joined Mannion Transportation Ltd. originally as an accountant, later transferring to Corporate Safety Manager, a position she retained subsequent to the acquisition of that company by the Pe Ben Group. In 2006 to 2012, Glenda worked at Triple Random Inc., as Corporate Safety and Risk Manager, responsible for administrative over-sight, personnel recruitment and vetting, union relations, safety administration, employee training and safety. Glenda is a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta, as well as a past member of the Quality Council of Alberta and Editorial Advisory Board of the Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine. Glenda is President of TGS Strategic Investments Inc., and Hike Pilot Car Services.
Heather Fraser, Administrator, a graduate in Business Administration at Alberta College began her career in pilot/escort vehicle operation in 1976 when she started with H and G Piloting. Before starting Hike Pilot Car Service in conjunction with Ken Clarke in 2000 Heather honed her pilot/escort vehicle experience working with H and G Piloting (1976-1977); Shell Canada. Ltd. (1977-1994); Kodiax Express (1996-1997); Johnny Johansen Trucking (1997-1998); and Beau Mountain Pilot Service (1998-‘2000). While working for Shell Canada, Heather also held the position of Assistant Manager for various service stations. In addition to managing the dispatch and operations of Hike, in 2015 Heather went to work for Wolverine organizing and dispatching pilot/escort vehicles, permits and sundry administrative duties and in 2016, she assumed overall responsibility for office administration of Wolverine/.
Doug Lupino, Safety Officer has an extensive health & safety background back to 1989, when he was forklift and loader operator and trainer, as well OSHA leader for Georgia Pacific Canada Ltd. An experienced team leader able to work cooperatively or independently Doug left that company in 1999 to pursue a career as a self-employed wildfire fighting contractor for his own company, DNB Holdings. From 2004 ro 2005 Doug worked as a crane operator for Wilkinson Steel, leaving for Prairie Express Ltd. Mr Lupino joined Wolverine in his present capacity. With a reputation for dependability and credibility, Doug has excellent communication and organizational skills and is diplomatic and effective working with parties of conflicting interests. Certificates held by Doug include Forklift Training, OSA Orientation, PST&CSTS, TDG, Emergency First Aide (Level A/CPR), H2S Alive, Confined Space, and is also a trainer in WHMIS and North American Cargo Securement.
